OK. I really must state that I had every intention of keeping this blog up to date, but alas I have not. So, starting today, I am going to post at least once a week….
I have been on a concert going frenzy as of late. I have seen Devo, of Montreal and MGMT. I had tickets to Massive Attack and Thievery Corp, but I missed the show. Upcoming shows are of Montreal (again) and Deerhunter. I am also contemplating going to see Junip at the end of the month, it all depends on financing.
The of Montreal concert in Nashville was quite disappointing. The venue, Cannery Ballroom, was terrible. The stage was far so low as to prohibit viewing of the inventive production and, most irritating, the sound was wretched. As always, the band put on a great performance but it was marred by the venue issues. Here is the setlist from that night:

The opening act, Janelle Monae, was absolutely breathtaking! It may be one of the best opening acts I have ever had the pleasure of seeing (even better than The Devlins act at the Sarah McLaughlin(?) concert from around 199
. The energy and inventiveness of her performance mirrored that of of Montreal’s stage production (that’s saying a lot!). I am looking forward to the Atlanta show this Saturday.
My friends Cayla, Jamie and Marion accompanied me to this show. As always, it was a wild ride!
Marion and I went to the Devo concert (28 July) at Chastain Park in ATL. We both were blown away by how freakin’ phenomenal of a show they put on. It was a special night because it was Jerry Casale’s 62nd birthday! Here’s the setlist:
