of Montreal at Terminal West in ATL

Last nights show (17 Nov. 13) at Terminal West in Atlanta was fantastic. Kevin seemed so refreshed and recharged with this new band. By the way, this band ROCKS!! Wonderful guitar player, keyboard player and the ever enchanting Rebecca Cash on vocals, percussion and, possibly, bass guitar at times. Kevin’s stage banter was more frequent and he smiled throughout the show. It just seems like they were having as much fun as the audience. Speaking of the audience, there were lots of younger people, but I was pleasantly surprised at the older people there. A good number of men and women my age or older attended. Cayla mention that one gentleman, around 85 years old, was from Canada and saw oM last time on a lark because of their name. He enjoyed it so much he returned for this show! Giddy up! I hope I’m still attending artistic live bands at his age.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a of Montreal show without some performance art to go along with the band, and they didn’t disappoint. Hopefully I’ll find some pictures to post…

In the meantime, here is the setlist. I believe that it is correct. I’ll know for sure after I listen to my recording of the show.

Last night, Steve Vai and his phenomenal band played the WorkPlay theater to a sold out, very enthusiastic, crowd. 3. Band Introductions

4. Building the Church

5. Tender Surrender

6. Gravity Storm

8. Weeping China Doll

9. Answers

10. The Animal

11. Whispering a Prayer

12. The Audience Is Listening

*** Begin acoustic portion of show
13. Rescue Me or Bury Me
(Vai song)
14. Sisters

15. Where’s Jeremy (The Drummer)

16. Fire Garden Suite II – Pusa Road

17. Jeremy Colson drum solo

*** End acoustic portion of show
18. The Ultra Zone

Guitar hints from Nile Rodgers

Can you give me some tips to master my right hand technique?
This is an awesome question. What I did was I practiced 32nd notes on the open notes one string at a time, and tried to cleanly move from string to string. After a while I started to learn how to mute them with my right palm to control the sympathetic notes. After months of this I emerged as the dude you hear playing now. It also works with 16th and 8th notes depending on the tempo of your metronome.
